Not even a couple of chicken breast...

OMG!

We've had a bit of a rollercoaster today.

Zeus and Tilly were coughing last night - in fact, they were dryreaching. It was concerning.

Glen took them all to the vet this morning, including Miss Aella. Turns out she has brought in a respiratory infection and they are all showing signs. Tilly and Zeus are lethargic and cold, grouchy and whatever. Aella was shivering last night, goopy eyes and sneezing. Anyway, today they are on various forms of antibiotics.

The reason for the title of this blog?

Aella was weighed.

She weighs in at a whooping 850grams.

Amazing.

You know, even in her photos on flickr I thought she didn't look well, her eyes looked too wet. Thought about saying something, but then, what could you have done?
What I will tell you now, though, is that this is a varient of cat flu and that they are ALL now carriers. They will shed the virus for the rest of their lives and can give it to other cats just by food bowls alone. This shouldn't bother them or you, but is good for friends who have cats to know. Because you can carry it on your clothes, too. So a friend whose cat has never had cat flu can catch it from you or their owner if they come and visit and touch your cats. Good news is that vigorous hand washing and sunlight are both excellent methods of preventing transmission.
